The event was attended by over 200 of the leading designers of onboard equipment, aircraft manufacturers, component developers, tool developers, and other representatives of the Russian aviation authorities and the Ministry of Transport.
The conference gathered most top representatives of the Russian Civil Commercial Aviation Industry, many of whom went through the experience of certifying aviation products internationally - so were able to share their experiences in compete in the global market. The conference was also important for networking in this Civil portion of the Russian aviation industry and exchanging information. Because regulations are continuously updated, such a conference will be held annually.
Participants noted the importance and relevance of this seminar: “I have been in this industry for 31 years, and we have never had a seminar of this level. This was a platform for cross-sectoral communication, where participants exchange practical experience, which they can further apply in their work. It is necessary to hold such meetings on a regular basis” noted Dmitry Katkov, Deputy Head of the Airborne Equipment Department of the FAU Avia register of the Russian Federation.
“The Russian aviation industry has been working according to international standards for a long time, but if in the West they were the result of many years of work by aviation companies, then our companies got them 'as is’ and it took a very long time to realize them and start using them. At this moment, Russian developers of aviation equipment are already quite advanced in the practical implementation of standards. At the same time, many of them went their own way, developed their own methods. In our opinion, the time has come when it is necessary to start exchanging best practices and approaches, for which we organized this seminar. Our efforts need to be synchronized to develop more uniform approaches to software and hardware certification processes. This will allow us to focus on the design and development of new modern systems, and not spend so on implementing processes - usually similar ones, over and over again,” said Evgeny Rodin, General Director of Advalange.
Alexander Dolotovsky, Deputy Director for Development of PJSC Irkut Corporation, Regional Aircraft branch, also noted the relevance of this event: “In my memory, this is the first forum organized in Moscow on the topic of quality management of development and certification in Aviation. What is especially valuable is that the forum was organized not on the initiative of state regulatory bodies, but on the part of market participants. This is an excellent initiative that we, as aircraft builders, support. Two days of interesting discussion in the format of live communication between representatives of aircraft manufacturers, manufacturers of systems and components of systems and experts of certification centers in the field of qualification and certification of aviation equipment left a very pleasant impression not only about the involvement of participants in this complex market in certification processes, but also demonstrated their readiness to change the prevailing mentality towards a new, advanced approach to development and certification.“
According to Antonio Gandolfo, Deputy Director of PJSC Irkut Corporation for International Certification: “All the Russian Civil Commercial Aviation Industry on the basis of the considerations discussed and exchanged during the conference with the persons already involved with the products certified internationally can utilize the information and take advantage of it to compete in the world market.
The conference has been fruitful also from a point of view of knowing the persons involved with the aviation industry and to maintain the contacts that in future will allow to have a common field of information exchange, already an exchange of considerations after the conference has been established between the industries.
Being the regulations continuously updated to have periodical conferences, yearly, on these subjects will help on informing on the state of art development. “
